Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United America. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. From 2017 until 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and the legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
